I have so many pictures that I want to post but our internet
(during my waking hours) is pretty slow and it takes way too long to upload
them - especially when I’m trying to
track three (or more) kids and Annabel is at that age where you can’t turn your
back for a minute without her getting into something. She is not an impressive napper (can’t win
them all, right?) so we reach afternoon time – the time that I’d be happy to
quietly work on this blog – and I have a 17 month old toddling about thinking
she’s as big as her big brother and sister and attempting to do everything they
do including getting herself water, glue things, climb everything, etc. After a morning of school, Hannah &
Emmett are ready to get their fizz out and are running all over the place
(thank God for an interesting yard for them to have adventures in – it’s not
attractive but there’s lots to explore). At this point the neighbor kids who
are home from school or who are too little to go to school yet and have been
patiently waiting for us to be finished with school start streaming into our
yard and it gets louder, not quieter, and I’m frequently summoned to do some
peace-keeping and translating and occasionally take a little one to the potty.
I know I could just tell them that they can’t play right now (that’s what most
others do) but our kids are really enjoying playing with the neighbor kids
these days and their confidence in Tajik is growing so most of the time I just
take the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” approach. So how’s that for a looooooong list of
excuses for not posting more frequently?
So with that, I very cautiously say – here are some pictures
of our last months (I’m writing this before attempting to upload pictures so
it’s a bit of a step of faith):

 |
| We gave Emmett a mohawk this summer (for a few days at least). He loved it. I think we'll see this 'do again. |
|
 |
| Annabel is so thrilled when the kids let her up onto their beds. |
 |
| The bridge on the way to a lovely lake we went to, Norak. This one is actually in better shape than most. |
 |
| We got to have Nan for a visit in September. I suppose it goes without saying that we had a blast with her. |
|
 |
| Annabel in the outdoor cradle at our Tajik family's house. She could have probably fallen asleep if we had all stopped watching her. |
 |
| Nan with our househelper, Farzona. Nan was such a good sport, donning the local dress. |
|
 |
| Happy grandkids and happy grandma (Nanu). |
 |
| Could this be how you know for sure that your honey is fresh? If you can't tell, these are bees. Of note is that they just float to the top and you can skim them off, no harm done. |
